Judge Judith H. Wizmur was appointed as a United States Bankruptcy Judge in 1985, and retired from that position in 2014. She served as Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Court of the District of New Jersey from 2005 to 2012.

Born in Budapest, Hungary, she arrived in the United States at the age of 7. She is a graduate of Douglass College, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and Rutgers University School of Law - Camden. Following a clerkship with the Honorable Michael Patrick King, J.A.D., she practiced law in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, served as Assistant Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles, and served as an Administrative Law Judge and as a Workers Compensation Judge. During her tenure as a bankruptcy judge, Juge Wizmur chaired the Bankruptcy Judges Advisory Group at the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts in Washington, D.C., and served on the national Bankruptcy Rules Committee of the Judicial Conference as chair of the Business Subcommittee. She was a contributing author to Collier on Bankruptcy, is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, and established the Bankruptcy Pro Bono Program at Rutgers School of Law, which now bears her name.
